Umbria Jazz Spring in Terni from 18 to 22 April 2019
In Terni, this spring jazz festival revives the four black music traditions: gospel, soul, blues and of course jazz. About 100 artists will perform. And every kind of music is performed in spaces that do justice to the music tradition. You will find the jazz performances in clubs, as it always was in the old days. In the Sanctuary of San Francesco, a place where prayers and where believers gather, you will find the Gospel performances. The Corsa all'Anello in Narni from 24 April to 12 May 2019

The Corsa all'Anello is one of the most important medieval festivals in Italy. During 3 weeks the Middle Ages in Narni revive with music, residents in medieval clothing, medieval taverns, historical parades and games. The highlight is the Corsa all'Anello on the 2nd Sunday of May. Three districts in Narni, the so-called Terzieri (Mezule, Fraporta and Santa Maria) compete on horseback for the ring. Soon it is program available.

Historical festivals to visit in the spring

Calendimaggio in Assisi on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday after 1 May

The festivities go way back in time when ancient nations celebrated that spring was back and life started again after the heavy winter. In Assisi, the festivities focus on the rivalry between the upper part, Parte de Sopra, and the lower part, Parte de Sotto, of the city. During the 3 days, medieval traditions, pagan rites revive and may songs and poems are sung. More information

The Festa dei Ceri in Gubbio on May 15

A spectacle that you cannot miss! Three huge wooden statues of the patron saints S. Ubaldo, S. Giorgio and S. Antonio are carried through the streets of Gubbio. The images are 400 kilos! per piece and three meters! high. Three teams compete to be the first to arrive at the top of Mount Ignino, where the basilica of the saints stands. More information

Festa della Palombella in Orvieto on 9 and 10 June 2019

Since the year 1400, La Festa della Palombella has been celebrated during Pentecost. The dove descending from Via Maitani to the Duomo symbolizes the coming of the Holy Spirit to the apostles. For the Duomo, a large canopy was set up for that occasion to represent the table where the apostles were seated. In the distant past, a successful descent of the pigeon meant good prospects for a rich harvest that year.

Perugia 1416 from 14 to 16 June 2019

A historic event in which the five districts of Perugia compete to win the Palio. All five districts must complete 4 challenges of which the historical parade is the most spectacular to visit. At the moment the program is not yet known.
